Do April showers bring May flowers? While we can’t say for certain if this old adage is true, we see beautiful flowers showing up everywhere, and May marks the month when spring flowers slowly but surely make way for summer blooms. This month is also very special for us as a year ago on the 3rd of May we opened the door to our little Cottage for the first time. We are incredibly grateful for the wonderful support we received in the last year, and we will commemorate this occasion with a series of creative tutorials and recipes throughout this month, so stay tuned. Special thanks also goes to our loyal YouTube friends who recently helped us to reach 1k subscribers. If you haven’t already, join our YouTube family and always be the first to know about our latest videos. This month begins and ends with a bank holiday, and our international visitors celebrate Mother’s Day on the second Sunday of May. Use our printable calendar May 2017 to never miss an event or appointment and enjoy this month!

Introducing: Belton Butterfly

The inspiration for this month’s pattern comes from Belton House, a classic 17th-century country mansion near Grantham in Lincolnshire. This beautiful estate is famous for its formal gardens and charming parkland, which is covered in a sea of bluebells during spring. We kept the design simple and lovely, showing forget-me-nots, daisies and bellis on a light, sky-blue background. The central element of the design is the common blue. Staying true to its name, this butterfly is the most common butterfly found across the British Isles.

Instead of featuring large and opulent florals, the Belton Butterfly design incorporates lovely forget-me-nots, bellis and French daisies.
