DIY paper holiday ornaments

You can create cutout ornaments with cute mini jingle bells, which not only look super cute but also make a lovely jingle sound. I use these DIY paper ornaments to decorate my Christmas tree and house, as well as for gift wrapping and as name tags on presents. Happy crafting!

DIY Paper Christmas Ornaments Instructions
DIY paper Christmas ornaments are a quick and easy Christmas craft that will bring festive charm to your home. If you need some new holiday décor, this easy DIY project is a super simple one. You only need our printable bell ornaments, scissors, ribbon, and a glue stick and a few minutes to create this pretty holiday DIY. Use washi tape, self-adhesive rhinestone stickers, or glitter to customize and decorate your DIY paper Christmas ornaments.
Materials
- heavy cardstock or photo paper
- printable bell ornaments (download below)
- small gold (jingle) bells
- 0.3 / 24-gauge gold craft wire
- Scotch tape or clear tape
- string, ribbon, yarn, or baker’s twine for hanging the ornaments
Tools
- craft scissors
- glue stick
- wire cutter
- single hole puncher
Instructions
- Print the ornaments. Print the printable Christmas ornaments on A4 or letter size photo paper or card stock. You always need an even number of ornaments to create the front and back of the bells. For best results, read our tips for printing printables.
- Cut out the bells. Cut out the bells following the outlines. To create a cutout, remove the circle in the middle from the large ornaments.
- Small ornaments: Apply glue to the backside of a bell and place another ornament on top. Be careful to line up both pieces and gently press together for a minute. Set aside until the glue has dried.
- Large ornaments with cutout and jingle bell: Thread a small piece of wire through the eyelet or hook of a jingle bell. Use a piece of Scotch/clear tape to attach the wired bell to the backside of a paper ornament, making sure the bell is in the middle of the cutout. Apply glue to the paper ornament and stack with another paper ornament. Press the two pieces tightly for a minute, then set aside until the glue has dried.
- Hang the bell ornaments. Using a single hole puncher, punch a hole near the top of an ornament. Thread a piece of string/ribbon/yarn/baker’s twine through the hole. Adjust and shorten the length of the ribbon according to your need. Then tie a knot and cut off any excess ribbon.
