Instructions
How to make lip scrub
You can also switch the freeze-dried raspberry with strawberries or cherries. The amounts of lip scrub and lip balm are enough to fill 5 to 6 15 ml pots each.
- Mix the ingredients. Add the coconut oil and granulated sugar into a small mixing bowl and mix with a fork or spoon until well combined and crumbly. Stir in the crushed raspberries and essential or candy oil and mix.
Tip: We don’t recommend melting the coconut oil, but you can soften it by heating it the microwave set to the lowest setting for 30 seconds to a minute. - Package the lip scrub. Spoon the lip scrub into the cosmetic pots or tins. Press the scrub into the tin to pack more product.
How to make lip balm
We used a small amount of pink lipstick to tint the lip balm. This ingredient is optional and a terrific way to use up leftover lipstick.
- Melt the ingredients. Add the shea butter, coconut oil, bee wax, and lip stick into a microwave-safe bowl. Melt in the microwave set to medium in one-minute intervals until bee wax is melted. Stir in between each interval and until perfectly blended.
- Add the essential oil. Once melted, stir 10 drops of essential or candy oil into the mixture.
- Package and chill the lip balm. Pour the lip balm into cosmetic pots or tins. Allow the lip balm to set, which takes an hour at room temperature or 20 minutes in the fridge. Once set, the lip balm looks opaque and satin-like.
Notes
How to use the lip scrub
Dampen lips with lukewarm water. Apply the lip scrub with your finger tips and gently exfoliate the lips in circular motions for 30 seconds to a minute. You can also use a soft
toothbrush to apply and spread the lip scrub. Use a damp wash cloth to remove left over. Pat lips dry and apply a lip balm. You can use the lip scrub once or twice a week.
